How to start your green beauty journey in a sustainable way!

So you want to start your green beauty journey?

God what fun!! I promise you won't regret it.

From now on, you will enter a world filled with completely magical products from the botanical, natural, cleen and green kingdom that will balance your skin and make it healthy thanks to the fact that you will let go of synthetic substances that may have negatively affected your body in various ways.

It's a magical world but as with anything new it can feel big and overwhelming so I've created this post with a number of tips on how to get started, not in the best way because it's incredibly individual but in the way that can make your introduction feel easier!

This post includes tips on what I learned when I started my journey and what I've learned over the 6 years I've been doing green beauty.

Use these tips however you want and if you want, feel free to tell us which tips you feel have been the most useful once you've been on your beauty journey for a while.

I would love to hear from you!

Here are my top 5 tips for you who want to start your green beauty journey!

  1. Choose products with as few ingredients as possible.

In conventional skin care, a beauty product contains row after row of ingredients and the more ingredients there are in the INCI list, the greater the risk that you are exposed to harmful chemicals.

The absolute best product that I recommend that only contains one ingredient is vegetable oils.

Argan oil, almond oil, calendula oil, apricot kernel oil, jojoba oil, hemp seed oil are some of my favorite oils that have had an incredible effect on my skin!

2. Start replacing your products in a specific area.

Take it easy.

Don't replace all the products you have in the bathroom cabinet at once, even if it's tempting and you want to get rid of your synthetic products as soon as possible.

It is not sustainable, especially not financially.

Think about which products you use the most.

Is it perhaps in the shower with shampoo, conditioner and soap? Or is it facial cleanser and face cream?

What I think we can all agree on is that even if we are not interested in day creams, cleansing milk or eye cream, we shower a few times a week and if we have hair on our head we use shampoo and maybe even conditioner.

If you want a tip on which products you should replace first, my answer is "the products you use in the shower where residues can get out into our nature".

3. Have patience.

The absolute number one tip I can give you is to be patient.

Transitioning from synthetic products to green products without a reaction from your skin or hair takes time. By that I mean that if you're changing your current shampoo, for example, you can expect it to take a few washes before your hair and scalp are balanced and the chemicals that have been layered on are gone.

It can also take time to find the products that work best for you so be patient when experimenting with your green products but trust me when I say it's worth it!

4. Try making your own skin care!

Making your own skin care is both fun and economical and no it's not just hippies who do this and you don't have to go to extreme lengths if you don't want to.

My tip is that you try making skin care and hair care products with ingredients that you have in your pantry! For example, salt scrub or sugar scrub for the body that makes it incredibly soft.

Say goodbye to having to slather yourself in lotion every day!

5. Buy products that you can use for several different parts of the body.

I wish I had this tip when I started.

If you have one or two vegetable oils, some essential oil, sugar and glass jars/rollers, you can make everything from perfume to facial cleanser to lotion (body oil).

It's amazing how you can experiment with products specifically for your skin type using so little.

Some say that organic and green skin care is more expensive than conventional skin care and yes they have a point in that but conventional skin care is cheaper because of their cheap ingredients that do nothing for your skin.

If you choose to invest in 1-2 vegetable oils, 1-2 essential oils and some rollers/glass jars, you will win an incredible amount in so many areas. And it will be financially worth it. Believe me.

So there we have them!

My top 5 tips for you who want to start today with your green beauty journey.

I hope these tips will be of some help to you, and don't hesitate to get in touch if you want additional tips in a specific area!

Have a wonderful day and good luck!
