Let´s unravel the different kinds of beauty!

Hello my green friend!

How are you today?

In recent weeks, Det gröna badrumsskåpet have launched a podcast (!) which is available here on the website but also on Anchor, Apple podcast and Spotify.

I am incredibly proud of this podcast and it feels incredibly fun to share green beauty and cosmetic chemistry in a whole new way!

Right now 2 episodes are out and episode 3 will come on Sunday, so just come in and listen!

And not only that we have launched a podcast in Swedish, on November 3 episode 1 of the English version of the podcast, which we have chosen to call "The green beauty cabinet!" will be launched.

In combination with that launch, we have created the possibility for more people to have access to all the information on this website, so now you can change the language from Swedish to English.

So many new lovely things in the works and it feels absolutely wonderful!

In this blog post I will go through 7 different concepts of beauty.

When you start your green beauty journey, you will be introduced to a number of new concepts such as natural beauty, botanical beauty, clean beauty, etc. These concepts are the cornerstones of your new values.

I will walk through these concepts so that you will have a greater understanding of what companies are actually selling you when they say that their product contains 97% natural ingredients or that it is vegan. The more you know about these concepts, the easier it will be for you to choose products that match your values.

  1. Natural beauty/natural ingredients Can be divided into three categories: Purely natural = Ingredients picked from nature that have undergone physical processing but have not changed the chemical structure of the plant. Ex. shea butter & cold-pressed avocado oil. Naturally derived = Ingredients picked from nature that have undergone some form of chemical processing to become a functional ingredient. Ex. Emulsifier. Nature identical = Ingredients that are made in a lab and are chemically identical to their counterparts in nature.

  2. Botanical beauty Have its origin in plants such as herbs, berries, roots, flowers, fruits, leaves and seeds. A natural alternative to synthetic ingredients.

  3. Clean beauty Is beauty that is safe for consumers to use and where the producer is transparent with the ingredient list. Usually called non-toxic beauty. Clean beauty uses not only natural ingredients but also ingredients created in a laboratory.

  4. Green beauty Are beauty products that are produced/produced and packaged ethically and sustainably. Is also synonymous with organically produced products. Can also be defined as an umbrella term where, for example, natural beauty is included.

  5. Cruelty-free Means that the beauty product has not been tested on animals.

  6. Vegan beauty Are beauty products that do not contain any animal ingredients, including beeswax and honey.

  7. Indie beauty Means that the beauty brand is founded and/or run by an entrepreneur and that there is no funding or backing from cosmetics companies.

If you want a more detailed review of these definitions, I recommend episode 1 of "The green beauty cabinet podcast". Available on november 3rd.

Have a great day and remember my green friend, the truth is in the ingredient list.
